OUR GOAL for A Community Well-Being Report

Imagine… Leaders from across the community working together to create a report that provides measurable indicators of the region's economic, social and environmental well-being and gives citizens the information they need to pursue a co-ordinated approach to community vitality and sustainability. Taking its cue from similar reports in other communities and through wide and ongoing community consultation, HCIA's cross-sector working group established a report framework tailored specifically to this region and its values, and partnered with York University for research support and data analysis.

Community Benefits

A regional overview: Because communities across the Headwaters region share many common goals and concerns, the report will bridge sectors and municipal boundaries to provide a comprehensive picture of well-being throughout the region.

A barometer of change: The first report will provide a benchmark. Through repetition every two or three years, future reports will help citizens to identify trends and evolving issues.

A tool for action: By anticipating emerging issues, the report will assist municipal councils, businesses and community organizations to develop consensus and plan collaboratively.

An Important Tool

Ultimately, we see the Community Well-Being Report as an important tool in achieving our vision for Social Prosperity. The development of the report card is one step in a process of engaging citizens to take action on matters that are most important to them.
